Dutch harmonized consumer price inflation increased unexpectedly in February, data from the Central Bureau of Statistics showed Thursday.
The harmonized index of consumer prices, or HICP, rose 0.3 percent year-over-year in February, slightly faster than the 0.2 percent climb in the previous month.
In contrast, economists had expected a 0.2 percent fall for the month. The measure has been rising since May last year.
At the same time, the consumer price inflation held steady at 0.6 percent in February.
Inflation is already seven months in a row now below 1 percent, the agency said.
Excluding energy, food, alcohol and tobacco, core inflation quickened to 1.3 percent in February from 1.0 percent in January.
